Dear fellow Newspaper members, Ms. Adams, and Ms. Ames,

This is Marina! Do you guys remember me? Well, I just wanted to drop by on Newspaper Club and give my greetings. Of course, being Freshman is hard especially entering such a big school, but it doesn't stop me from coming here! :) As you all know, Mrs. Moore, the formal Blue Team Algebra Teacher has moved with us to High School! Wow! I hope all the rest of the remaining members are enjoying their year in 7th/8th grade as well as Newspaper! I truly miss you guys and the two teachers who helped run this club. Nicole and Jenna have gone to Holy Cross, Jillian went to Nonnewaug, and Emma, Mariah, Vlada, and I are here! At the Naugatuck High School, which in about 7 months, you 8th graders there will be facing the same problems we Freshman have.

Aside from school, I have missed all the memories we had, from the pizza to talking about Ms. Ames puppy and the glorious book fair. *sob* I'll hope to visit all you soon sometime! If anyone has any questions on high school, I can probably help.~

                 See you hopefully,

8th Grade Talent Show

Posted by Miina on June 17, 2014 at 3:20 PM Comments comments (0)

This coming Monday, aka the second to last day of school, the 8th grade Talent Show will be taking place. With the help of wonderful voluteers with talents of singing, dancing, playing instruments, and acapellas our 8th grade cannot be any more talented. Of course, respect for the students while they perform and go up on stage, it is not easy to be in front of the hundreds of faces of your peers as you know. Thanks to our excellent 8th grade Blue Team math teacher, Mrs. Moore, we would not be able to participate in such an event.

Mrs. Moore had been running the Talent Show for several years now and if you see her after the show, give her a big thanks for helping produce the program. Along with the help of Sarah Viele and Salvatore Gullota for the electronics of the show. But how can we forget our two outgoing MC’s? This year’s MC from 8th grade are Matt I. and Bridget R.!

This “Talented” event is only open to 8th graders, as for the 7th graders, they’ll get their chance next year.

So… are you ready to anticipate the talented students of City Hill? Please look forward to the fantastic show on Monday, June 23, 2014.

Holiday Hill

I had a great time at Holiday Hill. There were many contests that anyone could participate in, I participated in the pie eating and ping pong contest and I won the hula hooping contest. There was also an all you can eat buffet including foods like hamburgers, cotton candy, ice cream, and fries. There was also a lot of sports you can do like soccer, rock climbing, tennis, and basketball. If you wanted to get wet you could in the pool or canoeing in the lake. You can even go bungee jumping if you were feeling adventurous. Furthermore you will always find something to do at Holiday Hill.:D

Holiday hill

There are many things you can do. You can play basketball, soccer, and fun games. Holiday hill was great and many guys wanted to play a basketball tournament, I was watching all the guys playing. There was a swimming pool. I ate a cheeseburger and a soft taco for lunch and drank soda. I went back to the basketball court and started to practice my shot while others are in a 4 on 4 games. There were also competitors in many events like 3 on 3 tournaments and 5 on 5 tournaments.

City Hill Experience #2

City Hill’s impact on me

As I walked through the doors of City Hill I was terrified. I didn’t know what was in store for me. Now I can say that City Hill was a big step and also a big turning point for me. I started seventh grade with an open mind. I wasn’t the most popular girl so I had friends but I wasn’t swarmed by people. I met a lot of friends along the way and most of them I will have for a long time and I can call forever friends. My teachers were always encouraging and there if you needed help or support. I have learned a lot and have had good grades through my years here. When I first walked through the hallways and classrooms I didn’t know what to expect but I now know that this was one of the best choices I have made in my life. Thank you for everyone that helped these year’s be great.

8th grade field day

During 8th grade field day we had to choose between a variety of activities like basketball, watching a movie, making jewelry, etc. Also, during lunch we got a surprise visit from Mr.Softee and we could have gotten vanilla or a chocolate ice cream cone. I hope everyone had as much fun as I did!:D

Recently the 7th Grade took a trip to Lake Compounce in Bristol, CT.  We all had a lot of fun even though we got poured on and the water park was closed everyone really had a good time.  I know one thing, I love it.

Lenda Hand

Dear Lenda Hand,

The Social is coming up soon and my friends wouldn’t shut up about it. I don’t want to go and haven’t bought a ticket but that hasn’t stopped my friends from going through every detail about it. It’s nice that they’re excited but I’m going to puke if someone describes their dress for the 7 time. How do I ask them to stop without sounding like a jerk?

                                                                                                                                                                                   From, Sick of Social

Dear Sick of Social,

If they bring up Social again try to divert the conversation to something you all want to talk about. If that doesn’t work then go out and say that this constant conversation is driving you mad. All else fails then ignore the parts you don’t want to be a part of and pep up when the talking terns to something you enjoy. Don’t worry about it too much though; all this will be over in 3 more days.

                                                                                                                                                                                    From, your friend, Lenda Hand

Dear Lenda Hand,

Social is coming up and my boyfriend hasn’t asked me to it yet. Does this mean that he’s not interested in me anymore? I’m worried that the worst is coming true. How do I know that he still likes me and that I’m seeing this wrong?

                                                                                                                                                                                      From, Worried

Dear Worried,

You boyfriend might be nerves to ask you. I feel that if he had lost interest in you, he would have broken up with you by now. Give him a little more time. He might want to surprise you and that’s why he hasn’t asked you yet. If he doesn’t ask you by the time Social starts then you can still go and have fun with your friends.

                                                                                                                                                                                        From, your friend, Lenda Hand
